Age 25 + This course is not required if you are 25 or older, but it is still recommended for first time drivers over 24 and licensed drivers that are new to Texas.

Common Questions

Is this course state approved? Yes. We are proud to partner with IdriveSafely to offer this Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) approved Adult Driver Education Online Course.  The state approval code for this course is C2267.

Am I required to complete this course? It depends on your age.  If you are a Texas resident between the ages of 18 and 24 and have not previously taken a drivers education course you must take an Adult Driver Ed course.  The course is mandatory only for first time drivers.   If you already hold a drivers license from another state or country, regardless of age, then this course is not required.  If you are a Texas resident over the age of 24 and have never obtained a drivers license before, then this course is not required, but it will prevent your from having to take a written test at the DPS office when you go to get your drivers license.

Do I get a certificate when I complete? Yes, you will be mailed a certificate of completion once you pass the six hour course.  The certificate will state that you have completed the written examination requirement to get your license.  However, you will be required to complete a behind the wheel test if you do not have a license currently.

What are the benefits of taking the course online instead of in a classroom? The online course option provides unmatched convenience.  You can access the course from anywhere with internet access (home, work, or on the go) and anytime day or night.  Rather than spend all six hours of the course sitting in a classroom, the online course allows you to log in and out of the course as needed and the site will save your progress.  You can take a little bit of the course at a time or all at once.  It is completely up to you.

How long is the course? Our online course is six hours in total length. However, remember that you can log in and out at your leisure and the course keeps your progress. That allows you to work at your own pace and do a little bit at a time, or all of it in one sitting. It is completely up to you.
