What to do if recieving a ticket?
You have these options:
 
1. Plead not guilty and request a date for a trial within 21 days of recieving your ticket.
2. Pay your fine to the City of Dallas.
3. Request Deferred Disposition and take defensive driving. This option is available for moving violations only (speeding, etc.). This request must be recieved within 21 days of the ticket date with a Texas drivers license, proof of insurance, and administrative fee payment.
4. Request to perform work release.
5. Request to make payment plan arrangements.
6. Request a 30 day extension to pay the fine.
*An additional $60 is assessed after 21 days from the ticket date expires.
You may also simply pay your fine by pleading guilty or "nolo contendre" (no contest) to the Municipal Court Service window with photo ID at 2014 Main Street and 111 W. Commerce.
30 Day Extension of Time to Pay Citation Fines other than Parking Tickets
In order to recieve a 30 day extension to satisfy your ticket, you must enter a plea of no contest or guilty in person, with photo ID to 2014 Main Street and 111 W. Commerce (1st Floor) within 21 days of the date of your ticket.
Deferred Disposition
The only prerequisite for this option is that you have not taken a defensive driving course after recieving deferred adjudication for another moving violation within the past 12 months. You have the ability to request this option by mail with the following items:
1. Photocopy of a Valid Texas Driver's License
2. Photocopy of Proof of Insurance
3. Pay the administrative fee with a check or money order, payable to the City of Dallas, for $95 or if you are cited for speeding in a school zone, the administrative fee is $120. Write your citation number on your check or money order to ensure proper processing. Mail to:

You may also bring the above stated documentation in person to 2014 Main, 1st Floor or 111 W. Commerce.
After receipt and acceptance of the documentation, a packet of instructions will be provided with instructions for completion of this program.
If a person has exceeded the posted speed limit by 25 or more miles, they will not be eligible to request this program without judicial authorization; therefore, a court date must be requested for consideration into this program.
