How Texas Defensive Driving Online Works

Step 1 – Register for your online defensive driving course:

To get started just click the "REGISTER" button on this page and complete the registration form that follows. Signing up is very simple and ensures that you are taking the right course for the right purpose. After registering, you will required to pay the course fee before being given access to the course.

We accept payment by credit card / debit card, check, or money order. If you choose to pay by check, please note that you will not be given access to the course until payment is received and processed. For immediate access, use our secure online credit card payment option.

For your safety, we use Digicert® on our secure site to guarantee that your credit card transaction will be protected against fraud.

Step 2 – Complete the online defensive driving course:

Upon completion of the registration, you will be given a unique login code that allows you to log in and out of the course as needed. This unique feature is what allows the course to be completely self-paced.

The defensive driving online course is available 24/7 anywhere you have internet access. You can take the course from your home, work, or on the go to accumulate the time necessary to complete the state required six hours of course material.

Once you have completed all sections of the course and passed the final test (20 multiple choice questions, 3 attempts to receive a 70%), you are eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

Step 3 – Receive your certificate of completion:

If you successfully complete the course by 3 PM Central Time on any business day (Monday - Friday, excluding holidays), your State-approved certificate of completion will be processed and sent out from our Sugar Land, TX office the same day. Otherwise, your certificate will be sent out the following business day.

Standard US mail is the shipping option that is included in the price for the course and should be delivered in 3-5 business days following completion. You may also request an upgraded shipping option during registration or following course completion. This may be done online at any time or via phone Monday – Friday 9 AM to 5 PM CST by calling 1-800-558-9887. The express shipping options available are 2-business day, standard overnight, and priority overnight. Express shipments will NOT be delivered to P.O. boxes and will NOT be delivered on Saturday unless requested by calling customer service.

The ticket dismissal certificate of completion contains an upper "Court" portion that you must sign and provide to the Court, as well as a lower "Insurance" copy to be turned into your insurance agent if they offer defensive driving course discounts. If you take the course for insurance purposes only, you will get a special insurance discount certificate that cannot be used for traffic ticket purposes.
