What do I need to do with my certificate of completion?

The two-part certificate of completion contains an upper portion for the "COURT" and the lower portion is for "INSURANCE." For ticket dismissal, copy the "COURT" portion and present it to the court via their instructions. For insurance discounts of up to 10%, present the "INSURANCE" portion to your insurance company or agent.

NOTE: Customers who select "Insurance Reduction" as their reason for attendance will receive a single insurance-only certificate for presentation to their insurance provider that cannot be used for a ticket.

Is this course approved for an insurance discount benefit in the state of Texas?

You may choose to complete this course of instruction to qualify for a 3-year, 10% insurance discount. The DTA program for Driver Improvement being offered has been approved by both the Texas Education Agency (CP-090) and the Texas State Board of Insurance for the automobile insurance discount benefit. In order to receive this discount, you will need to present a copy of your certificate to your insurance carrier or agent. It is advisable to contact your insurance agent to determine their procedures and your eligibility for the discount before starting.

How can I get a duplicate copy of my certificate?

Duplicate certificates can be requested by calling 1-800-558-9887. A $10 fee will be charged for duplicate certificates. This fee will be waived if the duplicate request is made within 30 days from certificate issuance (as long as the original was not received) AND no changes must be made to the certificate.

What should I do if my employer has directed me to complete a defensive driving course?

Many employers require that an employee who operates a company vehicle must complete a research proven effective driver improvement program as an ongoing condition of employment. The option to complete this type of training in an interactive environment is being selected by employers in increasing numbers to reduce driver downtime, while ensuring that a credible and ongoing driver improvement activity remains in place to reduce losses, injuries, and fatalities among company drivers.

If you have been referred to our site for this purpose, please select the "Business and Industry" option for your reason for course attendance during the registration process. Persons completing the course for this purpose will be sent a Certificate of Completion at the successful conclusion of the course for presentation to the employer's safety manager or other applicable party.

How do I move from one page to another in the course?

The course material is presented sequentially, therefore you will need to begin with the first unit and work through each successive unit until you reach the final exam. The length of each unit will vary, and each page has a timer (in the upper left hand corner). This timer indicates the amount of time required for that page.

You can spend more time if necessary, but you cannot proceed to the next page in the course until the timer expires. The length of each timer is determined by the amount of material on the page or the length of a video contained in a particular page. After the timer for a page has run down, you can advance to the next page by clicking on the "Next Page" link found at the top and bottom of each page.

Once you have completed a page, you can always go back to it by clicking on the page number, which is found in the "Jump to Page" link located at the top and bottom of each page of the course. By clicking on the links marked "Back to Sections," you can access the index page for the course. From this page, you can return to any units that have been completed previously.

What score is required to pass the final exam?

After you have completed all six units of the course, you will be able to access the final exam. From the course units index page, you will need to click on the link at the bottom that says "Take final exam." You will then be given the choice to review the material you have just learned or go directly into the exam.

When you choose to take the exam, you will be asked 20 questions that are drawn randomly from the material presented in the six units of study. In order to pass the exam, you must receive a score of at least 70%, which means that you can miss no more than six questions.

You will be given three opportunities to take the final exam. Please read the instructions carefully before you begin taking your exam. After you have answered all of the questions, you will need to click on the "submit" button and you will be notified automatically of your results. Notification of a passing score will also be sent to our certificate processing division. If you do not pass the exam upon your first three attempts, you will be prompted to call our office at 1-800-558-9887 in order to re-register.

Does the course have to be completed in one sitting?

No. Using the unique login code given during the course registration, you have the ability to log in and out of the course at your leisure from any computer with Internet access. The course automatically saves your progress and knows the furthest point that you have reached. If you log out and come back later you can click on the furthest unit you left off on and the course will return you to the last page you were working on. Your login code is good for as long as you need it, but please keep your court deadline in mind if you are taking the course for a traffic ticket.

Do I have to attend traffic school in the county that issued my citation?

No. The good news about completing the course online is that you can take it on any computer with Internet access, and once you finish the course the certificate of completion that you will receive via mail is accepted by any court in Texas.

What can I do if I have a problem with the video?

Each video page inside the course has a green video troubleshooting button that will provide you with a step by step troubleshooting guide. We also have a video test page at the beginning of the course to make sure that your computer is set up to properly view all course material. If you still have video problems after consulting the guide, please contact customer support at 1-800-558-9887.

How do I obtain an instructor's signature on the form that I received from the court?

This requirement is not necessary for online course providers since there is not an instructor teaching the course live. Simply notify the court that you completed the course online, making the instructor signature unattainable. Should the court have any questions about your course completion, request that they call our certificate processing office at 281-494-2088.
